What is SEL?

Social-emotional learning (SEL) is a process in which children learn vital social and emotional skills. The Chicago based Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) identifies five competencies in a framework of intentional SEL. We use these competencies in our teaching practices to help youth learn lasting strategies in developing and maintaining relationships, managing emotions, and becoming life-long learners

The Research Says...

Simply providing a safe place for youth out-of-school is not enough. Intentional SEL structured opportunities teach personal and social skills, positively influencing a child's personal development, relationships, behavior, and academic success
